My Story
Hi, I’m Mimmi! I’m a 20-year-old natural sciences student and a regional and city council member from Oulu.
I grew up in a single-parent household, and during my childhood, a lack of money and standing in line for bread were daily hardships for me. Thanks to the most right-wing government in Finnish history, these experiences have become a daily reality for an increasing number of families in Finland today.
Experiencing a broken child welfare system meant that the consequences of political decision-making were a constant presence in my life. I felt that my opinions were repeatedly disregarded, which sparked my interest in social advocacy at a young age. As early as third grade, I decided that when I grew up, I would become a member of the Finnish Parliament. A couple of years later, I began lobbying local politicians about the shortcomings of the child welfare system and the failure to uphold children’s rights.
So I’ve been socially active since elementary school. In the spring of 2025, I was elected to both the municipal and regional councils as a first-time candidate, and at the age of 19, I became Finland’s youngest regional council member. Now I’m running for the Finnish Parliament. If my campaign resonates with you, I invite you to join me in making me the youngest member of the Finnish Parliament in history.
