The costs of child welfare and services for families with children have risen even further as preventive measures have been sidelined and the burden has shifted to much more expensive areas of social services.

However, the story does not end here; the situation is set to escalate even further with the social welfare service reform planned by the government. This reform threatens to overburden social workers, undermine the rights of children in the child welfare system, and deny valuable assistance to families with children. The Orpo administration is stripping families with children of their right to high-quality professional services and letting money decide the future of families in need of assistance.

I oppose this kind of reform of the Social Welfare Act as a decision that undermines equality and is costly, and which, like other austerity measures, will hit the most vulnerable members of society—children.

Neljän vuoden takaisista lupauksista huolimatta nykyhallituksen aikana opiskelijoiden toimeentuloa on järjestelmällisesti rapautettu, ja korkeakoulutuksesta on tulossa yhä pienemmän, hyvätuloisen joukon etuoikeus. Ulkomaalaisilta opiskelijoilta peritään jo nyt lukukausimaksuja sekä toisella asteella että korkeakouluissa, ja hallituksen piireistä samaa on ehdoteltu useasti kaikille korkeakouluopiskelijoille. Todellisuudessa lukukausimaksujen kerääminen ei ratkaisisi julkisen talouden haasteita eikä edistäisi koulutustason nostoa.

We must immediately restore the prestige of education by reversing all cuts affecting students, increasing funding for all levels of education, and making it easier to access education. Usein vastaus kunnianhimoiseen vasemmistopolitiikkaan on kysymys: miten tämä kaikki saadaan rahoitettua Suomessa, jossa lähes kaikki puolueet vaikuttavat olevan yksimielisiä siitä, että raha ei riitä mihinkään.

Tosiasia on, että Suomessa rikkain kymmenys omistaa yli puolet varallisuudesta. Tätä varallisuutta verottamalla ja vastikkeettoman perustulon käyttöönotolla takaamme kaikkien toimeentulon myös tulevaisuudessa. Perustulon käyttöön otto helpottaa pienituloisten taloudellista tilannetta ja lisää hyvinvointia, kun aikaa voi käyttää enemmän elämiseen ja vähemmän stressaamiseen omasta toimeentulosta.

Myös tekoälyn arkipäiväistyminen lisää epätasa-arvoa yhteiskunnassa, kun voitot valuvat kansainvälisille suuryrityksille, ja tekoäly hyödyntää tavallisten ihmisten dataa ja luovaa työtä ilman korvausta tai suostumusta. Tekoälyn hyötyjen pitää valua työntekijöille eikä keskittyä suuryrityksille ja niiden omistajille.

Members of the ruling True Finns party are making one appalling comment after another about immigrants, sexual and gender minorities, and anyone who does not fit into the ever-narrowing inner circle of the privileged. The policies of the Orpo-Purra blue-and-black government are completely immoral and have already caused suffering to countless members of these groups.

In Parliament, I promise to stand up for those whose voices are too often unheard and to pursue policies guided by human rights.
